Jewelry Care

Caring for Your Jewelry – Avoid direct contact with perfume, hairspray and makeup. Remove your jewelry when showering or swimming. Don’t drop or hit your jewelry against hard surfaces. To clean; polish with a soft dry jewelry cloth. Jewelry should be stored in the original bags.

Bead Care and Maintenance - Our guide will provide you information to help you retain the beauty and luster of not only your gemstone beads, but all types of beads including metal and pearl. We do not recommend the use of commercial ultra -sonic cleaners as they can be chemically harsh and may incur damage to your beads and finished jewelry.

Gemstone Beads – Most gemstone beads can be cleaned using a washing solution of slightly tepid water and Dawn dish washing soap. Dip a cotton lint free cloth into the liquid to dampen and wring out excess water. Using a circular motion, gently wipe the cloth over the full body of the bead to remove dust and buildup on the exterior. The best care for your beads is the proper care during wearing your gemstones. A rule of thumb is to add your jewelry as the last item on, and the first item to take off while dressing. This will diminish environmental or accidental damage. We do not recommend the use of commercial cleaning immersion solutions, as they will remove any titanium, metallic, or aurora borealis coatings on some beads.

Metal Beads – Metals react with the environment through a natural process of oxidation that occurs when exposed to sulfides in the air. This process will affect most metal beads and plated beads in the same manner. To remove the tarnish, use an anti-tarnish cloth and store your beads in the pouch they came in.

Freshwater Pearls – Pearls thrive when worn because they absorb the natural oils and moisture from your skin! However, Pearls do not like makeup, hairspray or perfume! Store pearls in a non-airtight container within a soft pouch to avoid drying out and nacre damage. To clean your pearls, gently rub each pearl using a slightly damp soft cloth. This will remove debris, such as perfume, perspiration or makeup. Be sure to dry the pearl strand completely before storing to avoid thread deterioration.

When cared for and stored properly, your gemstone beads, and pearls will retain their luster, providing you with heirloom quality organic beads. Remember, storage is the key!
